Information age has moved into every nook and cranny of our daily lives. Computer technology has been an important and pervasive tool in our society and San Pablo Central proved that they can “go with the flow”.
Last June 16, 2008, right after the flag ceremony, the San Pablo Central website was launched. The launching was spearheaded by founders of Collaborative Web, Teacher Benevieve Villanueva, a Phd Student at UPLB and currently a College Instructor at San Pablo Colleges, and Dr. Raffy Mananghaya, founder of e-Minima and a professor at UPLB, together with Teacher Perlyn, our computer teacher and adviser.
San Pablo Central website is a product of the “Kids Create e-Web” of the collaborative Web of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) through the Institute of Community Education, College of Public Affairs (ICE-CPAF ) in collaboration with the Kiwanis Club of San Pableños. The said event was joined by Mrs. Marilyn Capuno (School District Supervisor), Dr. Anita Quiatchon (School Principal), faculty members, pupils from the different grade levels, and parents.
Launching included discussions about how the website was created and its content. Teacher Perlyn introduced the pupils behind the creation of the Web and also described their participation in the project. Teacher Benevieve, on the other hand, explained the website and emphasized that the San Pablo Central School website is the first known public elementary school website that was created with a constructivist approach in San Pablo City - and perhaps in the Philippines.
As of now, the website contains different corners such as Science corner, Math corner, Language corner, Kids forum, Games, Our Community, eH Kasi, and Art corner. Each corner is an essential feature of the San Pablo Central Web and maintained by the kids themselves.
The event was a very fun-filled experience, especially to those who supported the project (see the picture above). Happy Browsing!
